A sequel to the book, entitled Sapphique, was published in 2008. Published by Hodder Children's Books, it is the first in a line of novels centered on Finn and Claudia, two adolescents individually confined by the Warden of Incarceron. Incarceron (2007) is a young-adult fantasy and science fiction novel written by Catherine Fisher that was first released on May 3, 2007. Readers interested in this line of thought can, of course, always use Fisher’s depiction of Incarceron as a starting point to consider for themselves the nature of men and their world and Fisher will have achieved nothing shabby in making her audience think.Young adult, dystopian future, Science fiction

Some characters do express their views as to the impossibility of achieving a perfect world, but aside from a few bits of dialogue, the themes of evil, sin, and paradise remain in the background. Unfortunately, Fisher fails to explore fully the idea on which she based the books: that of a utopia gone horribly wrong. Even if some readers do predict all the outcomes, however, Finn and Claudia prove likable characters whom the audience will want to stick with and see to some sort of conclusion. Although initially the story may seem predictable, Fisher throws a few curves, making the suspense last well into the gripping climax. The action never flags and readers will find themselves glued to the pages, intent on discovering the answers to the mysteries surrounding Finn and Claudia. Review: Incarceron takes the reader on an exciting adventure through two vastly different worlds: one a land where time has stopped by order of the king and men and women parade about in period clothes while utilizing highly sophisticated technology in secret, the other a wasteland where time has barely progressed at all and its inhabitants rely on knowledge so primitive those of the other world barely remember the days when they relied on such information. Claudia has delved into the mysteries of Incarceron in an attempt to avoid her impending marriage, but in doing so, exposed herself to those who prefer that the secrets of the prison remain hidden. Life Outside, however, is not perfect either.

To do so, he will need the help of Claudia, the prison warden’s daughter and betrothed of the prince. Finn, a young man who woke up in the prison three years ago with no memory of his past, believes he comes from Outside and is determined to escape. Without mercy to temper its justice, Incarceron evolved into a world of terror where only the least scrupulous survive. They named it Incarceron and believed it would mete out justice to its inhabitants, forming them into perfect men who would live in a paradise.

Summary: Long ago the wise men crafted a living prison to hold the criminals and other undesirables of the realm.
